Kenya Power Announces Nationwide Blackout

Kenya Power has announced a blackout affecting most parts of the country due to what it termed as a system disturbance,
The company, in a statement to newsrooms, said the outage began at 5:40pm on Thursday evening, noting efforts to restore it are ongoing.
Kenya Power intimated that the restoration efforts are likely to take upto two hours, further apologizing to Kenyans for the inconvenience.
“At 5:40 PM (EAT) today, Thursday, 2nd May 2024, we experienced a system disturbance on the grid, resulting in power supply disruption in most parts of the country,” read the statement.
“We regret any inconvenience caused and urge for patience from our customers as we work towards restoring normal power supply at the earliest opportunity.”
It added: “We will issue an update on the progress of the power restoration exercise within two hours.”
