Controversial Kisii County Speaker David Kombo back to power as the Speaker of the county Assembly legislature after eight months of clashes between ward representatives who called for his ouster.

Addressing representatives of the 30 wards who attended the parliamentary sessions, Kombo said he had pardoned those facing him and said he would work with all ward representatives as well as county officials.

Kombo returned to parliament after receiving a court order barring him from being sworn in until the case filed in the Kisii court is heard and decided.

He pointed out that his goal was to help ward representatives complete their development projects in their wards while calling on ward representatives to put aside their differences and work together.

Kiogoro ward representative Samuel Apoko addressing reporters outside the county assembly, said he welcomed the Speaker and urged him to work with all ward representatives equally. Kisii County Parliament minority leader James Ondari said that in accordance with the court order, Kombo would continue to perform his duties as speaker of Kisii County parliament.

In the case of his dismissal in 2020, Kombo had been accused of incompetence at work, failure to address the interests of ward representatives and abuse of power.
