ODM Leader Raila Odinga has stated that the Azimio coalition will not back down until President William Ruto vacates office.
Speaking after a round table meeting with Azimio senators, the opposition chief took a dig at the Head of State claiming that his prayer rallies will not help him get away with the theft of elections.
“It does not matter how many times Mr. Ruto pontificates, or how many times he makes solemn promises, these will not help him get away with the theft of elections. We aren’t turning back until the illegitimate regime vacates office,” Raila said.
The ODM supremo also announced that the coalition will be proceeding with its anti-government gatherings this weekend before a prayer session outside the offices of the Independent Boundaries and Electoral Commission.
“We will also be doing a prayer for the IEBC. That we have a better IEBC to defend the rights of our people. That prayer will be done in front of the premises of IEBC (Anniversary Towers),” he said.
The Azimio leader has maintained that his coalition will not participate in reconstituting the electoral body that currently has no commissioners.
During the Azimio Parliamentary Group meeting last week, the coalition said it was opposing the formula to be used in filling the vacant positions.
“Azimio parliamentary group reiterates that it will not participate in the reconstitution of IEBC through the formula and process being proposed by the Kenya Kwanza regime,” it said in a statement.
