Ongwae launches tarmacking of Nyanchwa road

Written by on 13 October 2020

Governor James Ongwae today flagged off the tarmacking of Nyanchwa- Falcon road.

Speaking at Nyanchwa estate, Governor Ongwae noted that Nyanchwa is the fastest growing residential estate in the municipality with an estimated population of over 35,000, majority of whom work in the CBD.

Ongwae who was accompanied by the County Commissioner, area Member of County Assembly Duke Nyarango, County Secretary Patrick Lumumba, County Executive Committee (CECs) members Vincent Sagwe (roads) and Edna Kangwa (Administration) Municipal Chairman Jamil Shamji among other senior officers said the project duration will be nine months.

He said the project is expected to be the shortest link to the CBD compared to the current distance through the Stadium road.

He said, upon completion, apart from increased connectivity and reduced travel time, we anticipate that the project will trigger unprecedented growth thus transforming Nyanchwa estate to a mixed-use estate.

With the near completion of the Kisii bypass and Itierio-Riamasagara bypass, the road forms a vital artery in decongesting the CBD by conveying the traffic to Suneka.

The MCA said the road will help many road users especially the bodaboda operators and thanked Ongwae for launching its tarmacking.
