Kakamega gubernatorial race records low voter turnout

Kakamega county is experiencing low voter turnout in the ongoing gubernatorial elections.
For instance, a total of 178 votes had been cast in the Bukhungu polling centre located in the Lurambi constituency, by 10:00 am where a total of 1,906 voters had registered for the August elections.
Other centres such as Kakamega Primary School, Kakamega Muslim, ACK and Sichilayi also witnessed a handfull number of voters.
As of 10:00 am Fernandez Barasa- one of the gubernatorial candidates had voted in Bulimbo polling station, Matungu constituency.
Cleophas Malala is expected to vote at the Bukhungu polling station in Kakamega later at 11.00 am.
One of the seven candidates in the race Suleiman Sumba (of KANU) while speaking after casting his vote at Mumias Township Primary school polling station, complained that some of the KIEMS kits in different polling stations had failed, delaying the voting exercise.
