It’s a disappointment to Kenyans who have subscribed to Safaricom and they borrow funds from the telecommunication firm overdraft service, famously known as Fuliza for now they will be forced to pay an extra penny fee after the telecommunication firm increased its charges on daily interest fee.
Early this week on Tuesday,6th of 2021 Safaricom sent messages to all its subscribers on their mobile phones that was stating the increase of the fee.
From the other side the firm replied that it had increase its interest rate due to the 2021 Finance Act that cam into effect on the 1st, of July 2021, after His Excellency Uhuru signed it into law.
“Dear customer, due to increase in Excise Duty to 20%, our prices for voices, SMS & out of bundle data have changed. Tunukiwa &Data bundle prices remain the same “This was the message that was sent to all subscribers following the signing of the finance act where us the access fees would still remain the same 1%. In order to revise your Fuliza charges you can dial *234#.
This was very essential to many customers, more so campus students in order to complete their M-Pesa transactions when they had insufficient funds in their M-Pesa wallets.
These funds are always recovered automatically from M-Pesa balances once you receive the money from any sender but if you fail to pay your overdraft within the stated days, you will be barred from getting these services till you pay your outstanding debt.
