IEBC proposes new date for election in Kakamega, Mombasa

Written by on 22 August 2022

Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has proposed Monday, August 29, 2022, as the date to conduct the election in the remaining Wards, Constituencies, and Counties.

The commission proposed the date during a meeting with the candidates at the Bomas of Kenya on Monday, August 22.

IEBC postponed the election after the ballot papers’ mix-up in Mombasa and Kakamega counties.

On the list are parliamentary elections in Kitui Rural, Kacheliba, Pokot South, and Rongai Constituency in Nakuru County.

Voting for MCAS in Nyaki West ward (North Imenti Constituency in Meru County) and Kwa Njenga (Embakasi South in Nairobi County) was also postponed.

The commission had earlier set August 23, 2022, for the elections before suspending them citing insecurity.

IEBC has given candidates in the electoral areas time to campaign until 48 hours before the elections.
